A Movie Review on JONAH HEX

August 29th, 2011

“Jonah Hex” is an adaptation of a John Albano’s comic book which bore the same title. Jimmy Hayward did a great job in directing Josh Brolin, Meagn Fox, John Malcovich and Michael Fassbenber in this movie. We can rate the movie to be quite average but still it is an entertaining piece to watch. Jonah Hex is a bounty hunter characterized by his scar on his right cheek. He came from the dead and was brought to life with additional strength to boot. He was assigned to stop Quentin Turnbill played by John Malkovich. He was a terrorist that has an evil plan to unleash chaos into the world. The deal was to accomplish the mission and in return Hex would be receiving the freedom he had been yearning for. Most men would be looking forward to the leading lady Lilah, played by the ever gorgeous and sexy Megan Fox. Though playing the part of a hooker, the audience did not have a glimpse of any Fox nakedness for this film. We can say that Malkovich is a very effective antagonist, finding ways to make the audience hate him much throughout the film. His character is equally synonymous with destruction, making sure that everyone would be silenced down if they ever try to come in his way. You would definitely enjoy Josh Brolin’s performance in this movie. His prosthetics looked so real and we know for a fact that it’s not easy to make or wear such make-ups. The way he delivers his lines would make you remember how “Batman” talks in his movies while the setting of the film would depict as if you’re watching a scene from “The Mask of Zorro”.  Special technology managed to make the film more sophisticated and the audience would be able to tell how the casts have put in all their best into this film. The downsides of the movie include the clumsy phasing of the film. It made most of the audience lose grip on the story as it unfolds. We can also say that the story is quite shallow and there is no further depth introduced in terms of plot. The overall length of the film was short which may also be the same reason why there aren’t any further scenes that would make this movie quite exemplary. Don’t expect too much from this film you may end up feeling disappointed. “Jonah Hex” is an entertaining movie indeed but overall it’s just another one of those you would only like to see once in your lifetime.
