If you are having people over for dinner, then some after dinner hot drinks are always a welcome sight. They keep the conversation going and help fill in silences in a very comfortable manner. There are plenty of some really good drink recipes that you can try out for such a purpose. Take the example of the always welcome Calypso coffee. Quick and easy to make, it is a delicious way to wind up your evening. You will need half an ounce of dark rum, an ounce and a half of Tia Maria, four ounces of black coffee and two ounces of cream. With the exception of the cream, pour all the ingredients into an Irish coffee glass and mix well with a spoon. Add a dollop of cream on top before serving.

The bedroom farce is another good way to go. It takes just a minute to prepare but tastes so good that it is hard to believe the task was so simple. You will need an ounce of dark rum, half an ounce of bourbon, two teaspoons of Galliano, four ounces hot cocoa, two ounces of heavy cream and some chocolate shavings. In an Irish coffee glass add the rum, bourbon, hot chocolate and Galliano and then stir well. Making sure that the cream has a texture to do so, spoon a little of it over the mug so that it floats rather than sinks on top. Then sprinkle some chocolate on it.

Try ‘candle in the window’ as well. You will need two ounces light rum, two teaspoons of bourbon, one teaspoon brown crème de cacao, four ounces black coffee and one teaspoon cherry brandy. Leaving out the crème, put everything in an Irish coffee glass and mix well. Float the crème on top when you’re done and if you like, sprinkle with cocoa powder.
